The most popular event at Balloonfest is The Glow. On Saturday, balloons enter the launch field at sunset and are inflated as if they are going to take off, but instead of being allowed to ascend, they are held down by the ground crew.
The propane burners are ignited periodically to keep the balloons inflated with hot air. As the night sky darkens, pilots ignite the burners, creating a magical glow of hot air balloons. It’s an evening you do not want to miss!
The Glow begins after pilots and balloons return to the launch field following the Saturday night launch (6:30-8:00). Much like our fireworks display, the Glow is best against a darkening sky.
